Mircea Mocanita

Mircea Mocanita began his violin studies in Romania’s Baia Mare Musik-and Art Highschool in Roman Adrian´s violin class. In 1996-1998 he also took private lessons with Stefan Gheorghiu in Bucharest. From 1998-2003 he studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Rostock in Prof.Petru Munteanus´s violin class and Prof. Karin Wolf´s viola class before moving to Lübeck in 2006, to continue his studies at the Musikhochschule in Prof.Elisabeth Weber´s violin class. While in Lübeck, Mircea formed the “Allegra” Piano Trio and studied Chamber Music intensively with Prof.Shmuel Ashkenasi, Prof.Walter Levin and Prof. Inge-Susann Römhild). Mircea has also participated in masterclasses with the Artemis Quartet, Fontenay Trio, LaSalle Quartet, Beethoven Trio, Lynn Harrell, Werner Scholz, Leon Spierer, Eduard Grach and Alain Meunier.
As a soloist, Mircea has performed with the Satu Mare Philharmonic Orchestra, the Concertino the Ensemble Rostock, the Preußischen Kammerorchester, the Orchestra of the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Rostock and the Bergisch Symphonic Orchestra.
As a member of the Allegra Trio, Mircea has performed at several festivals including the Usedomer Musikfestival; Kultursommer Hohenlohe; Festspiele Mecklenburg Vorpommern in addition to a busy concert schedule in Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, Norway and Korsika.
In 2010 Mircea accepted a position with the West German Radio Orchestra (WDR) in Cologne.
