Mihkel Järvi

Mihkel was born in Tallinn in 1985. In 1992 he started to study pianoplaying with
Maigi Pakri in Tallinn Music Secondary School. During the years 1995-2002 he
continued his studies in Lahti conservatory with Rauno Jussila.
Mihkel has performed in many countries, for example in Estonia, Finland, Germany,
Spain, Portugal, Italy, Romania, Czech Republic, The United Kingdom, and
Lithuania. He has also been on tour in Switzerland with chamber orchestra Vivaldika
as a soloist.
Mihkel has participated on various master courses held by teachers as Lauri Väinmaa,
Ivari Ilja, Kalle Randalu, Matti Raekallio, Piero Rattalino, Ilya Kim, Alexander
Markovich and Lazar Berman.
He has won the first award in Leevi Madetoja piano competition in Finland in 1997
and the second award in the same competition in 2000. In the spring 2001 Mihkel and
his sister Miina Järvi, achieved the second award in Juvenalia chamber music
competition. In the fall of 2001 Mihkel attended the international Carl Czerny
competition in Prague, where he recieved the honorary mention of the jury for the
second round.
He plays also lot of chamber music mostly with his siblings and is one founder of
international music festival Lihula Muusikapäevad. Since 2004 Mihkel has studied
with Hamsa Juris in Sibelius-Academy in Helsinki and since 2009 in famous
Mozarteum in Salzburg.
