Kalle Randalu

Kalle Randalu is an Estonian pianist of international acclaim. He has been much in demand all over the world since the 1980s, when he won several important prizes from international competitions, in particular First Prize at the ARD International Music Competition. Kalle Randalu has been resident in Germany since 1988 and has been Professor of piano at the Karlsruhe University of Music since 1997.

Kalle Randalu has been invited to give concerts with many prominent orchestras, such as the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Bavarian State Orchestra, the Moscow, St. Petersburg and Hamburg Philharmonic Orchestras, the Konzerthausorchester Berlin and the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra as well as with well-known maestros such as Mariss Jansons, Wolfgang Sawallisch, Natan Rahlin, Maxim Shostakovich, Juha Kangas, Leif Segerstam, Osmo Vänskä, Kazushi Ono, Neeme Järvi and Paavo Järvi.

He is also very active as a chamber musician. As one of the directors of Villa Musica for over 20 years, Kalle Randalu has given numerous concerts together with Sabine Meyer, David Geringas, Radovan Vlatković, Dag Jensen, Martin Ostertag and others.

Many of his over 50 recordings have been accorded high international recognition, notably the Classical Award in Cannes and ECHO Klassik (Prize from German Phono Academie).
