Indrek Leivategija

Indrek Leivategija (1986) started his cello studies at the age of 5 at the Tartu H. Eller Music School with Reet Meits, studied a year at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre and is currently finishing his studies for Master`s degree at the Munich Music and Theatre Academy with professor Wen-Sinn Yang and with Natalia Gutman at the School of Music of Fiseole in Italy.

Indrek Leivategija has participated in numerous master classes and competitions, both in Estonia, Germany and abroad, and has earned many rewards (I Prize in ESTA Competition in Estonia (2005), II Prize in K. Wilkomirski Cello Competiton in Poland (2005), I Prize in Competition „Premio Gaetano Zinetti“ in Italiy (2010), Munich Gasteig Music Award (2012) and many others) given concerts and made several recordings, for instance with Estonian National Broadcasting Company, German National Radio and the Bavarian Broadcasting (Bayerischer Rundfunk).

Chamber music plays an important role in his life and he has performed as a member of different chamber music ensembles in most Eurepean countries.

2008-2010 Indrek Leivategija played at the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra (Symphonieorchetser des Bayerischer Rundfunks) and since 2012 he is the 2nd Principal Cellist of the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra (Bamberger Symphoniker).
